Why I carved my cannon plug into bits...

...and am happier for it.

The root cause of my no spark and no start was the notorious cannon plug.  I have written up an FAQ on ways to address the cannon plug electrical contact issue.  I chose to do the "Nuclear Option."  I removed the pins from the boat side of the cannon plug, design and printed a new 3D cannon plug cover to make a more robust connection.  The FAQ and link to the 3D printable SolidWorks CAD model and STL file are in the link below.  I would like to thank you all for all of your postings which I could read and understand cannon plug symptoms.

Mine comes slightly loose every few years.  I loosen the clamp, push, and tighten.  That seems to fix the problem for at least a couple more seasons.  I'll be sticking with my 15 second fix until that doesn't do it.

Just another bad Indmar design.  Good guide for those with issues beyond resetting the connection.

Thanks.  Those plugs were used for years by OMC (Johnson/Evinrude) without problems, but they have a clip that ensures that they stay together.

@gregtrees, please also upload your part to thingiverse.com.  Thanks!
