Wakeseter hitting Rev limiter

Hello I have a 2006 wake setter with the monsoon 340 that won’t go above 3800 rpm. It is being restricted by the rev limiter.  I have given it a tune up plugs wires and fuel filter   I have changed the temp sending unit on the back of the Motor with 2 wire plug. There has to be something telling the ecm that is not letting it hit the full rpm

Doubt it is a rev limiter. This is a very common problem with several different solutions. What worked for me was changing the ICM in the distributor. If you search here you should find plenty of info.

Thank you. I have been searching like crazy on this site.  The reason I was think it’s the rev limiter if you put it in neutral and give it gas it hits 3800 rpm And acts just like it does when I’m driving it.

Could be the neutral safety switch in that case then.
