Replacing carpet with other flooring

Recommended Posts

We have a 2001 Response and would like to completely eliminate the carpet, at least on the floor itself. It is such a hassle to keep dry and clean. I have seen ppl do this with pontoons. Could anyone give me advice on this...I searched the forums and saw something about Gatorstep. I would like to find out what has worked for folks and what to expect in terms of cost. Thank you.

With glued in carpet you are looking at a number of hours of prep to pull the carpet, scrape the glue off and then finish/sand the floor to get good adhesion. On a Response a lot less time than in a VD, but still some work. I put in the GS in my '10 LSV, but I had snap in so really no work except pull the padding from the swim deck and walk over pads. Not fun, but easily accessible. I would highly recommend the GS and to template your boat yourself as every boat is slightly different off of the production line. Cost, I got the 30% discount from a group buy which at the time ran me about $2300 which I was good with as there was a lot of pieces involved. My wife wasn't so happy about the cost until we used it a couple times and you would of thought she was selling the stuff for a living afterward. I would say given the boat that you are looking at no less than $1200, but that may be cheap. Best bet is to call GS and talk to them. They were outstanding to work with even on order/cutting errors that I received. Good luck.
