2002 Sunscape 21lsv, 800 hours.  bought it May of 2013 with 400 hours on it after riding in MalibuNation’s 2003.

thought about a newer one but love how simple This one is to work on and with the upgrades I’ve done it does everything I need.

Still rockin' the 2002 23 LSV and just passed 1000 hours...so time for a 1000-hour party.  She still makes me happy.

Original owner of an ‘01 SSLXi. I purchased 3 new boats in an 11 year span before it, but this boat so perfectly fit our needs and has been so trouble-free that I have not been to a boat show or dealer in at least 15 years.

We replaced our 2002 WS 23 LSV after 18 years with a 2020 version.  Not that we did not like what we had, just wanted a newer version for the next 18 years.

I sold my 2013 23 LSV with 775 hours monsoon 350. Other then some minor sensor issues it was solid.

Bought a brand new 2020 23 MXZ and had a check engine light come on this weekend and it went into limp mode. Had to take it to the dock and load it in the trailer. Boom weekend boating trip over!

Still cruising my black and tan 2000 LXI with a Boss Tower. 20 years later, the only things I've had to do with that boat is change the oil, impeller, a few hoses and well the two Nibral props were my fault :)

Anyone else still cruising around in the classics?

I wish new boat are the same build quality like the old ones . I had old boat for 6 years zero issues just basic maintenance . New one are j....k.  Malibu where is your quality!!

My 2008 when 11 years... not a single issue... not one. Not with the motor, gel/fiberglass, electronics (and that was the first year of the MUX and I also had Malivue), vinyl, hardware, etc.  Mine was a Merced boat.  I miss those days.

My 03 Rlxi is still going strong and looks great. 600+ hrs now.  Spends the whole summer in the lake.  Custom ordered in Nov. 02. (only way they came back then).  A couple impellers, annual oil changes, on my second battery and fuel filter, and a tune up every 5 years or so. New prop this year, hit a log at idle speed in neutral.  Should be my grandkids boat some day along with my 1970 runabout.

On the quality, you could see the drop off every year starting after '05-06 or so.  Little things started disappearing and corners started being cut here and there as demand started to outpace what a small, private company could keep up with while retaining that "pride in each and every boat" touch.  Merced boats were definitely a level above TN on the F&F as far back as 2002.  Things like panel gaps, hinge fitments, etc were always better on our CA boats than our TN boats when we were ordering new boats annually for the ski teams.

'01 Sunsetter VLX I picked up off the original owner in 2011.  I want to upgrade; struggling to convince the wife.  I love our boat but I want something with a 100 - 102" beam and more freeboard (for more ballast, of course).  I want a '10+ VLX with a glass floor and LS3 engine; not easy to find but the real issue is convincing the wife...

My 01 SSlxi has been great for the 3 years I've owned it.  There's a bunch of older Malibus on the mtn lake we go to, including an exact twin of mine.  Cool to see all the older ski boats, makes the new flashy ones look a little out of place.

Just past 6 years of owning our ‘01 vlx. Bought it with 176 hours and now have 390. Basic maintenance so far pretty much. Put a new throttle cable in last year and I need to do the cutlass strut bushing. I don’t see selling it anytime soon although I could probably sell it and make money right now with what people are paying for used boats.

image.png.e784d35015a14511e30a3021cc66438a.png1987 Sunsetter. Owned it for about four years. 636 hours. Runs and skis great following a couple of years or chasing down and addressing fuel delivery and ignition issues.

image.png.80578e5af9c0a03ce245d1cda059c29c.png2004 VLX. Purchased this boat in 2012. Only issues ever were the engine got a little warm during our pre-purchase test drive due to a roached raw water pump impeller, and several leaks on the ballast tanks due to improper winterization of the tanks. Inexpensive and easy repairs.
