21' VLX Ballast pump/switching failure

Recommended Posts

Hello

I have a 2010 21 VLX. Left rear ballast tank will fill but not drain. I replaced the blown 5 amp fuse, and connected a new pump and it blew the fuse. Does the dash control ever go haywire, or am I most likely chasing a grounding wire to the pump?

Thanks for any help you might offer

IME on my 2010 the most likely culprits in order are: crud in the pump keeping it from spinning and blowing a fuse, a bad pump and faulty wiring of some sort. New pump, new wiring potentially wired wrong? Compare it to the opposite pump to confirm. If not that, trace the wires as far forward as you can looking for cuts and frays and lastly check the grounds on the common ground bar under the dash next to the steering wheel assay. If it isn’t an aftermarket install, these checks should get you fixed.
