Best boat for Choppy water 2021 23lsv

Looking for a boat that cuts through chop. We boat on choppy lakes and currently have a 21mlx. Is there something in the Malibu line that would be a better ride? We primarily surf and the kids wakeboard.

I went from a '17 21" VLX to a '19 23 LSV.  Our lake is very choppy.  You will see a considerable improvement between your MLX and a 23 LSV.  However, I wouldn't put "rough ride quality" into the 23 LSV's features and benefits.

This sounds completely awful....but if the choppy water is your most common problem...You need a Cobalt; the R6 will likely get a surf model with surfgate in about 6 months (Malibu owns Cobalt)   :firesuit on:

Pretty common thing here in what everyone is saying - the longer and heavier the boat is, the better it performs in choppy water.  In the past we have added a little bit of weight in the center tank (50%) to help alleviate some of the up and down action in the bow that creates a rougher ride.

Give it a try and let us know what you think.  As you probably already know, they 21 footer can only be tweaked so much to smooth out the ride.

Did you catch what I posted in the “live stream” thread?  If not, here it is again. This was a direct quote from the new 23 LSV reveal event. Could be just what you’re looking for...

The running surface of our boat, and the performance of the boat is always #1 in our priorities. We’re looking at this... definitely performance... we gotta keep that. The 23 LSV specifically we wanted to make sure that we kept that wake and wave that is just so signature for the Malibu line, and our customers love that!

We’ve really evolved in our design process; it’s come a long way. We used to... it was a lot of trial and error, a lot of tribal knowledge. And over the years we’ve started to use a lot of CAD software. For example we use this CFD modeling software. And that allows us to really study the wake, and the wave, and the shape... the depth and the length and the width of all that. And so we were able to optimize all of those while keeping that signature wave that our customers love.

But we don’t just stop there. We also modified slightly the running surface of the hull, created a deeper “V” shape. And what that allowed is when you’re out in choppy water it gives you a smoother ride, so it’s just real smooth wherever you are in the boat.”
