99 LXI Running out of Fuel!

Recommended Posts

Hello guys, newbie to site! Got a 99 Sunsetter LXI 325 Monsoon, boat running out of fuel on turns so filled tank and runs great. Have 48 to 54 pounds fuel pressure, New Distributor, Both Fuel Filters replaced.  Crack in pickup tube likely (sucking air) but cant get screen up through bulkhead fitting in tank! Is this a non replaceable part? Any help appreciated!!!!

Boz, I did pull fuel sender and cleaned screen. But you still cant get it out without cutting line in half, as screen is larger in diameter than bulkhead fitting and the other end has a 90 pressed on fitting. But you just rung my bell by showing me that  photo. It may not be a cracked suction. When I threaded down pickup tube on threaded bulkhead fitting I can here the pickup tube turning ( not swiveling like it should) with it so the metal screen is not down in the well. So that's probably why is running out of fuel on turns!!!  Sometimes I'm not so good at descriptions hope you understand !!

Thanks to all who replied !!! So helpful !!!

That should work then. I know I cleaned my pick up screen  once but don’t remember how exactly

@Scott1320 - does that tank have a black plastic flange that mounts to the top of the tank that holds the fuel pump / vent line fittings?  If yes, remove that to have better access to the sub-components.   If your suction bell is not in the well, my guess is that is the issue.  Wide flat tanks tend to slosh fuel around!

BTW - as a newbie on the site and a Sunsetter owner, you might want to search the threads relative to your boat, the owners tend to really like them.

Took boat out today and it runs awesome, even if you throw in a bat turn!!!
Special thanks to Boz for that picture👍
