New alternator

Recommended Posts

Hi all.   Voltage is showing low and battery is getting weak.   Pulled the alternator and it’s making a nice little grinding sound.
Time to replace.   Any suggestions?

Like going to the store to pick up some yogurt for my wife, I’m confronted with many choices and prices.

it’s a 2002 Wakesetter with the Indmar 350.

Dont really think an upgrade from the 70A one is necessary as most of the draw is when the engine is off.

Thanks for any info.

Yea for sure.   But even then theres a few.

Its a choice between the sub $100 and the $300 one.

I don't think the $300 one will last three times longer than a $100 one, but I guess I can't say that for sure.  They pretty much have commodity parts inside.  Even crappy bearings are pretty good these days.

Being down this road many times I will tell you the difference between $100 and $300 is not worth the pain, stress, overall marital issues that come from cheaping out on non OEM parts when your vacation or 5 hour drive to the lake is at stake.  Just saying here.  I even bought an OEM one from Bakes that has just left me high and dry.  This is probably unrealistic for most of us but when possible always go OEM..and then make sure it is OEM.  Lots of false advertising these days.
