Depth Gauge Failure

Recommended Posts

I would bet your transducer is the issue, same with mine, but I still haven't completed the repair.  I thnk this is the article i used to go off of.  Thought I had it followed, but it's not there.

The Hawkeye went bad too. I replaced it with a Faria thru hull unit.   No water temp but accurate depth.  Works better than I thought it would.  Hawkeye transducer is still there.

@minnmarker  Did yours give odd readings or read "bad".  Mine is the latter and I didn't think I had many options.

The OEM depth finder simply gave odd readings or nothing at all.  The Hawkeye worked for a little over one season but not very well at speed.  The Faria has worked well and at speed (up to 25 mph).

there is a lowrance transducer that will work to replace a bad original one, you just have to splice the cable because the ends aren't the same.  I added a depth gauge to my 06 vlx, had to add the module as well, so if you have the module already and the old transducer yours will be an easy fix.  i can send you the pdf that andrew at bakes online sent me if needed.
