Chip in Hull - Ideas on Cause?

Recommended Posts

Hello all, new member and new boat owner here with my first question.  We have a 2009 Sunscape 20LSV and when cleaning the boat after use yesterday I notice this chip in the hull.

We didn't hit anything that I am aware of.  After we launched, I replaced the rear trailer bunk that runs right along where the chip appeared.  Could this have caused the issue?  Followed the advice of many on here and feel that I did it properly.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

does the bunk go on the inside next to the defect? The bunk shouldn’t cause that chip.

Seems more  likely that you hit a half floating beer bottle or something, you probably wouldn’t fee it or hear it.

Appreciate the responses.  This portion of hull does run right along the new bunk new bunk so that was what concerned me, but I didn't see how it could have caused this chip.  Must have just been a coincidence.
