Skim style board suggestions

Does anyone ride the Hyperlite Hi-Fi or the Ronix Koal Surface Thumbtail ? If so, Are they good skim style boards? Any other skim style suggestions that won’t break the bank to much.

I am new to all the surfing stuff. I almost pulled the trigger on a hi-fi last week, but still wasn't comfortable spending all that $$$ knowing I am investing in ballast bags, new prop, etc.. for my proper setup.

I found this skim board and even if its not perfect, hard to beat at $160. CTRL has a few other 2020 boards right now for a good price. Few other places that were selling are sold out already, overtons has it now.

Victoria and Phase5 have some very nice skim boards. I've ridden the Phase5 Diamond, Phase5 MVP and the Victoria Factor. All are good boards. The Diamond is very popular. My favorite is the Victoria Factor but thats just personal preference. My Factor is a little smaller and more agile feeling that the Diamond that I was riding. Diamond is a little faster to stay in wake with its larger surface area and likely due to its wider tail.

Sometimes you can find used phase5 boards.

Depending on where you ride, you might be able to test some boards.

I had a Hyperlite shim the last couple of years. That was a good budget shim. Just got a phase 5 MVP and man that is a fun board. Once you get used to it it will make you a better surfer. If it works to from a budget standpoint just head there. You may end up there like I did.
