1998 Sunsetter VLX with Monsoon motor

Recommended Posts

We have a 1998 Malibu Sunsetter VLX that we are restoring. I would like to replace all the belts and hoses since almost everything on her is original. Also she smells like she is running rich, does anyone have any recommendations for that. Boat has lots of potential and is in great shape for 22 years old. Thanks for the help  Bill

Is it a carburetor, or injected engine?

Definitely change the belts and hoses, including the exhaust, the fuel filler, the vent, and main fuel lines as well as the cooling hoses.

Check the alternator, starter, battery cables, steering cable. Probably would be easier to go system by system. Work on ignition system, plugs, wires, rotor, cap

fuel system: check fuel pressure, replace fuel lines, check blower and blower hoses

steering, should be finger tip smooth, add grease to rudder (small amount only) check steering cable

charging: Check batteries, starter, alternator

etc
