2004 Malibu VLX Tower Speaker Addition

I have a 2004 malibu vlx. I recently took the old 6.5 inch cans in the boat out and put in new kicker cans. It was a great change! Now I'm looking to add a few tower speakers for hanging out in coves. Does anyone know how large of a speaker and or how many watts I can get away with using the stock amplifier??? Also not sure what mounting hardware is necessary with my tower... I have the Illusion tower.

Any help is much appreciated!

Any. Larger speaker will always have an advantage over a smaller speaker with no additional wattage.

Got it –– so I don't need a large amplifier?

Not to simply play the speakers. Larger speaker will be louder and yield better mid-bass. Now, if you want to get the most of of the speaker, an upgrade amp might be in order. I dont recall what the OEM amp in a 2004 would be.
