check for air leaks if you have an fault 441

Recommended Posts

Hi Gang,  2017 T23 6.0L: I was running hard and boat threw exhaust manifold water temp) codes 441 (Motor was running cool at 160F).

After quickly removing the beauty covers I put my buddies face over the engine and gave the motor a load:

1st, checked for leaks around the impeller pump housing - nothing

2nd, checked for leaks on all blue drain plugs and hose clamps - nothing.

hmmmm

3rd - I have a the indmar strainer flush kit device installed.  I put my hand over that and felt and air suck coming from the garden hose tie in.  The cap was not secured perfectly, even though it was very tight.

Just this tiny air leak caused the boat to reduce the water intake and although it was cooling the engine properly the parameters must have hit by the time it got into the exhaust manifolds.

So make sure you check carefully if you get this code, the exhaust sensor parameters must be very strict.
