Multi gauge doesnt work, flashes ecu

Recommended Posts

Just picked up a 2005 Malibu waksetter.

10 mins into the first use gauges stopped working and digital flashes “ecu”. Runs great just im running blind.

after doing lots of searching through here, went through the wires, fuses, grounds, kill switch, gauge connections,  has no inline fuses but everything looked good.  Found a used mmdc of ebay, he said it worked.  Plugged it in and for a couple minutes it worked!  Read temp and balast levels......then started flashing “ecu” again.  Turned everything off and on....same thing.  Unplugged and plugged.....same flashing “ecu”

looking on bakesonline they make new ones that are updated. Part #2020-20019-01 is stock amd new updated part is   2020-20033-01. Has anyone else had this problem?

Does the new updated mmdc part fix that issue?

before i drop $700 i want to make sure

i know lots have had this issue but i cant seem to find what solved the issue.

Thank you!

I think you have a connection problem.  Find the cannon plug on the side of the transmission bell and disconnect it, make sure it is clean, and *gently* spread the male contacts, then put a small dab of grease on each one.  Reconnect it and try again.
