Hub Seal came off, can I still tow the boat?

We are scheduled to tow the boat about 150 miles tomorrow (75 each way). We noticed some grease on the ground, looked at the trailer and saw that the hub seals were not on one tire. The photo of what we saw is attached, There is grease on the wheel from using the boat tonite. How bad is this? Should we not tow the boat that distance?

Stop and buy a new cap on the way.  The sooner the better.  Even a box auto parts store should have one.  And as you can see, it will make a mess until you get it covered.

I wouldn't put it in water like that....

I likely already have put it in the water, since I just got back from the lake and noticed it.

I'd seal it up as best as possible.  If you don't have access to a store to buy a cap, track down few sturdy rubber bands and some clear wrap.  put it over the hub and snap the rubber bands on there for now.  Monitor as you get home.  If you can find some grease - and it does not really matter much what it is for such short use (wheel bearing grease is best, anything NGLI #2 is fine too) I'd shove as much in there before you seal it up as possible.  If you're running on the highway, I'd pull off and check the temperature of the hub a few times until you know its not building up heat.  Check it against the other hubs and if its too hot to grab and hold you need to let it cool and see why grease isn't getting into the bearings.

You're going to definitely want to pull the wheel when home to clean and repack it which is maybe an hour job.  It still slinging grease like that is a good sign - you caught it early before the bearings ran out of lube.

I had that happen on my 07. I used it for a month or so no problems. I finally got it covered and had no problems.
I would also like to recommend you watch people getting in and out of the boat while on the trailer.  I believe a kid used it as a step on my trailer. That is probably how it loosened up to fall off
