Storage locker handle lock removal

Recommended Posts

Has anyone removed the rear handles for the storage compartments on the sun lounge? I’m replacing the locks and can’t remove them.

Your profile doesn't say what year, make, or model you have, but on my 2002 it is a very large plastic threaded nut that keeps it in place.  It's almost impossible to get a "wrench" into the hole, but I used a screwdriver with a light hammer to push it into tight or loose.  I'm sure there's a better way, but that's what I did.

Where did you source locks from? I tried to find some a year ago but didn’t find any that would fit.

I removed the handles the same way as mentioned above, a flat blade screwdriver and a hammer. Once the nut turns just a fraction of a rotation, it will be loose enough to remove by hand.

You can either get them straight from Perko, or just measure the ones you have and buy generic cylinders from amazon.  There is nothing particularly special about the lock cylinders they use.

Thanks you guys! I will try the hammer and flat blade method and let you know what I find. I previously tried the wrench method, but couldn't get it to work!

I went with new latches without the lock since I never locked them, and frankly worried someone would do more damage trying to get into the locker if it were locked than not.
