2005 lsv 23 - ecm-

Hey guys, quick rundown, I just bought a 2005 lsv23, I have been looking for a while for one I could work on, upgrade etc.. (afford) needing some work to get into it at a better price. I’ve known this boat for about a year, I found out it was at a Malibu dealer because of a no start issue. Well I went to the dealer and looked at the boat, they said it needed a 2,000 ecm. So the owner and I worked out a deal and I bought the boat as is at the dealer. I’m not wanting to spend 2,000 on a ecm if I can find someone who is parting a boat out or salvage yard with a known good ecm. I’m patient and not in a rush. I brought the boat home to start on clean up and just checking it over. The dealer has already removed the ecm and sent it to Cali, so I’m not sure what to search for. I know the harness has 2 plugs. Any idea or info where to search. This is my first lsv23, these boats are awesome

No reason the dealer shouldn't answer questions for you, like, "which ECM do I need to buy?"  I'm just guessing, but I think it's a MEFI-4 for that year, but you didn't say what engine it has.

I’m sure the dealer will. I picked it up yesterday Close to closing time  and that place was chaos with people and I could tell they were swamped so I’ll call there Monday. It’s a 340 monsoon engine. Where could I find the engine serial number?  Thanks for the reply

On older engines, the serial number can be found stamped into the block by the bottom mount starter. On newer engines, the serial number is located on various stickers including on the valve cover, ECM, and the raw water pump.  Or on the papers from the original purchase.
