Sony MEX-1GP replacement

The stereo in our 2007 VTX is no longer working and I want to replace it.  I know nothing about stereo's though so it's a bit intimidating.  What I took out is a Sony MEX-1GP head unit and I"m hoping there is something that is a direct replacement but I'm not sure if that's possible.

Does anybody know where I can get a cross reference to that unit (which is discontinued) to find something that will work.  From what I've found online tonight I think the Sony MEX-M72BT might be close to what I'm looking for? If I do need to rewire is that something a somewhat handy guy could do?  I haven't messed with stereo's since I was in HS and that's going on 30 years now.

For reference:

Talked to someone at Crutchfield audio this morning and the MEX-M72BT is going to work for what I want.  I'll lose the remote that I have under the dash but this stereo is going to be bluetooth enabled so I can run it from the phone.  Owning the boat for 4 years I'm not sure we used that remote more than 3-4 times anyway so I guess it's not a big deal to me.
