Speedometer on 02 Wakesetter Lxi stopped working

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

would anyone have experience or knowledge on why my speedometer randomly stopped working on my 02 Wakesetter? The other gauges all work.
thank you in advance 🙏

does the needle still spaz out when you key on?  If so, the servo is probably still good and it might be signal.  If not, try swapping plugs around from one of your other gauges.

This seems like a really bad year for gauge failures.  Seems like there's a thread a week about this lately.

I’ll check the needle next time I’m at the boat and I’ll also try another plug in the dash. Thank you very much for your help

Thanks Pablo! If I buy this it should solve the problem? (As long as the plug is good)?

Maybe, maybe not.  Run the diagnostics.

that is really a gamble.   It could be the paddle wheel (if you have one) like mentioned or possibly some other issue.    Do you have Perfect Pass - if so do you get a speed on that ?

Pretty sure the paddlewheel for that year/model is only for Perfect Pass.  My 2002 Wakesetter has (had) 2 "pitot" tubes, but they are the newer vacuum style tubes, so they can indeed get plugged, but pull a vacuum instead of pressure to indicate speed.  The holes are tiny and less likely to get blocked, but try to clear them and see if that changes anything.  Also, you may have 2 adjustment rocker switches near the ignition?  Play with those too; you can re-calibrate the speed later with a GPS app on your phone.
