Replacing Marine Battery 1998 Sunsetter lx

Recommended Posts

Battery completely died in the Sunsetter today and it is time for a replacement.

Any suggestions on a good battery to put back in?

It starts the boat, runs the stereo, Nav lights, interior lights, blower, and bilge pump if that helps.

Go to Wally World or a box auto parts store and buy the same size replacement in a "marine" battery.

If you maintain it, you should get 7 to 10 years out of it.  If you don't maintain it, you'll get maybe 4 to 5 years.

Maintain means add distilled water regularly if it has caps, and never let the voltage get too low.  Too low is the key, since the more you discharge a battery, the shorter its lifetime.  If you never let it go below 12V, it should last a long time.
