Fuel Pump Fuse Blows and also no spark

Recommended Posts

2004 Wakesetter VLX,

When boating at 17mph, Boat died and won't start.  Found Fuel Pump fuse blown.  Replaced fuse & fuel pressure checked normal - but also no spark.  Replace Cap/Rotor - didn't help.  Replaced coil and that fixed it and ran fine for a week.  Then same thing - blown fuel pump fuse again.  Replaced fuse and fuel pressure normal - but no spark.  Checked kill switch and power to coil.  Puzzled why fuel pump fuse blows and spark ( coil ) fails at the same time.  Wondering if my ECM is causing the fuse to blow and fries the coil at the same time?

Anyone have a similar experience - or have any thoughts?

Thanks,

Paul in Indiana

Sounds like a short some where.  Idk. Key switch or wires off it maybe.  Signal for fuel pump is from key.  Just ideas....

Relay replacement time?  Mine died once like you noted and it ended up being the fuel pump relay.
