Hey guys, I'm newer to the forum here and looking for some help if possible. We have a 2003 Malibu Response LXI with Monsoon 335 that keeps dying on us. The boat has been in the water for a couple weeks and everything has been fine until now. It will only stay running for a few minutes until dying off the lift idle or in gear, and after a few minutes of being off it will start again, but the cycle only shortens each time after it starting again. The boat is not over heating, and oil pressure is reading fine. Thought it may be a fuel pump issue, but after putting a voltage meter on the fuel pump, the voltage drops just before the boat dies, so it seems the fuel pump is fine. We are guessing it's an electrical issue. This has now happened before with an older battery as well with a brand new. Any and all thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.

Get a fuel pressure gauge and take a reading at key up, idle. The fuel pressure readings should help confirm that the fuel pump is ok.

If your boat has one, the Ignition Control Module can cause this type of problem and then it will just die.  Easy to swap out (located under the rotor on top the distributor) use the paste before mounting it.

voltage drop is likely a result of the engine stumbling.  I'd still check fuel supply is good (i.e. fuel isn't shut off, filters are clear) then move onto the ICM as Boz recommended.

If I recall correctly, that year model Monsoon has the schrader valve for the fuel rail directly under the edge of the waaaaaay oversized plenum cover.   Stupid.

@MPnelly, you'll probably have to adapt something like a car tire chuck to your pressure gauge to check the pressure since it needs a low profile 90* to reach it.  Don't let that stop you from measuring your fuel pressure, though.  Ignoring fuel pressure because it is a little harder to measure is not the right way to diagnose this issue.
