Surf gate and computer screen issues

Recommended Posts

We have a 2016 VLX, anyone else have issue with the gate not working and warnings popping up on the screen? Started out last summer with issues, gate wouldn’t retract then wouldn’t go out. The screen would freeze and couldn’t get it to do anything. Always had to shut down the battery and reboot. Took the boat in, they did a software update twice, still did it, next they replaced the “brain” of the computer, still had issues, finally replaced all the screens. Took it out last week, issues again! Super frustrating and when we spoke to Malibu they said to talk to the place where we bought it, talked to the owner and once again we have to haul it in. In a nutshell though he said this is common with these boats and all the computer technology and basically it’s something you just have to deal with. I’m sorry but does that seem like an answer you want to hear when you’re spending that type of money on a boat?

I did on my previous 2016 for a bit.  Not the screen issue but the gate would get stuck out.  Several parts were replaced (relay and gate actuator) but the problem persisted.  I think my dealer reran wiring to the back of the boat. The thought was the factory wiring was caught on something in the stringer area and possibly shorting at times I think.

They boat worked great after and as far as I know the new owner was happy as well.

We just bought a brand new Malibu MLX and took it out for the first time and it is only allowing us to surf left. Almost seems like the manual button is stuck in surf left. Any suggestions?
