Oil Leak in the bilge area

Recommended Posts

Hey Malibu peeps,

The other day I was doing an oil change on my Malibu 2007 23 LSV and after I was done filling the oil i noticed quite a bit of oil drain out of the motor, at first i thought i may have spilled some but it was more than just over spill so now i am concerned that it may have come from the valvecover gasket.  Have any of you had this problem and do you know what the GM part # is? I can get it from the dealer but the closest one is 2 hrs away. I believe it is the 340 Monsoon.post-8316-0-97397700-1433959217.jpg

Stupid question (from me). Where the arrow points I believe is very close to the hanging point for the oil pan drain hose. Is it at all possible that the brass end cap on the hose is not fully tightened and leaked when you ran the engine?

A significant oil leak from valve covers would have been apparent the last time engine was running.  I would search elsewhere for the leak. Highly doubtful a leak of that magnitude would be from something not touched or disturbed during the oil change.  Check the stuff you touched, oil filter?, drain plug, oil cap.
