Low Profile Trailer Tires

Heeding the advice in my other thread about a long road trip to Lake Powell, I took a close look at my trailer tires. While the tread and sidewalls look great, they're over 5 years old, so going to replace them before the trip.

They're low profile - 255/45-18. There are no "trailer tires" in this size. What is everyone running on the new trailers with low profile tires?

I don't run low profile tires but I can give you this advice. LT tires should also carry the weight. The tire has a max weight load rating on them. So when finding tires that fit, calculate the max rating x how many tires your trailer has (2,4,6) and that will provide you the max weight you can carry (trailer+boat+gear, etc). as long as you are not exceeding this you will be fine.

Just frustrating that I can’t get a true trailer tire with the additional plies and better sidewall rating. The current tires will technically carry the load (like you said), but just seeing what options others may have found for a “heavy duty” low profile tire.
