For that price I'd say go for it - even if you need a complete redo (2K?) you are way ahead.

Agree with @Eagleboy99. Is there an explanation from Th e seller as to the repair?

He said he redid the gel coat on one side, but said it was the previous owner who repaired the other side (same discoloration on both sides of the hull). He's owned it for 6 years, and says he has had no issues. I'm going for an on water test this week and having an inspector come to verify the hull before we put it on the water!
