Morse throttle type

Recommended Posts

Hey guys.
I having some confusion regarding my throttle system.
I have an 06 lsv23 with hammerhead. It has what looks to be a Morse mv3. I assume it’s a drive by wire system as my throttle body on the intake of the hammerhead is motorized and no cable attached. I’ve had some people tell me they had the same year boat with a cable actuated throttlebody. so I just wanted to confirm I do have an electronic throttle system?
when I accelerate the engine, RPM is very linear And precise with the movement of my hand throttle (stick). But when decelerating the Rpms seem to hang up and then drop drastically as I throttle back on the stick (usually from approx 3000 to 1800 or so. So the rpm is not corresponding properly with the stick. Also the stick could use a little more friction as it will sometimes  back off when I’m not holding downward pressure And reduce boat speed. If this is an electronic throttle system is there a way to service it? Clean the electronics? Assuming it would be a potentiometer of some type? I have the cruise control system and it works fine, no issues with its function.
any info is much appreciated.
thanks

If the retaining screws on the TPS electric throttle potentiometer box are too tight, it can cause the throttle to hang up when decelerating to idle.  Some throttle shift controls are a hybrid, cable for the shift and potentiometer for the throttle.  Other controls with cables for shift and throttle will have a Thottlemate electric controller on a bracket on top of the engine with the throttle cable attached to it.

This link shows the TPS throttle controller and there is a PDF link at the bottom about adjustment.

Great thanks for the info.
mine is a hybrid. Cable to drive unit and wiring to throttle body
