2016 VLX Tower Speakers

Recommended Posts

We have a 2016 VLX and the tower speakers were working fine when we took it out of storage.  After about 2 weeks the tower speakers started making a "popping sound" and it wont play music out of them.  All lower speakers work fine.  On the first amp that controls the tower speaker we noticed a red and blue light.  Both other amps are just blue.  We have checked for all lose connections and everything seems to be working fine.  Is there anything else we can try to self fix before taking it out of the water and back to the dealership?

Thank you so much!

Nancy

The amp is in protect. Could be for several different reasons. I'd unhook the speaker wires from it and reset the system to see if it goes into protect again. If it does it is either a voltage/ground issue or the amp itself.

If it doesn't it is a tower speaker wiring or speaker issue.

What brand and model of amp?  Is there anything next to the red LED to denote what the error is?  I'm guessing bad power connections, or maybe bad RCAs.

My bet is on speaker wires pulled through holes in the tower without using grommets, so the wire has rubbed bare and is shorting against the tower.  If what @23LSVOwner said works, temporarily wire directly from the amp to the speakers without using the original wires.
