This was in the raw water supply hose, normal?

So i got my wakesetter back today from the dealer who replaced the impeller and lake tested the boat and i noticed the hose that comes from the v-drive to impeller housing was disconnected and this was stuck in the hose where it would normally connect to the impeller housing.  Is that part normally inside the impeller housing connection and it broke or was that from something the dealer used during service and they broke it and left it there?
