2015 boatmate tailight replacement

Recommended Posts

Came home from the lake a few days ago and one of my taillights was full of water.  I found the replacement on etrailer which is coming next week.  Went out to plan the swap and saw the current one is riveted on.  Is the easiest way to go about this to drill through the rivet and maybe just replace with some SS bolts/nuts?

Took about 30 min but got it replaced today.  Just cut the old wires to the plug and used weatherproof butt connectors to connect the new light.  Hope that’s a good enough seal to keep the water out.

Were the same lights available on Amazon?  I am going to have to replace mine this season.  Did you end up using stainless bolts?

here’s link to the red ones.  Ended up being exact match on my 15 boatmate.  Yes I used stainless bolt, lock washer, and nut.

May want to drop a little liquid electric tape or something around the ends of the butt connectors to help seal them...just to be safe.

Good advice.  I did that as well when I replaced taillights on my trailer.
