1998 Malibu Sunsetter Complete dewinterization

My family friends bought their first boat last summer and put it in an indoor storage facility without winterizing the boat. Is there a special or different way to go about getting it ready for the water if the boat wasn't winterized at all?

(Stored indoors in climate controlled facility)

Thanks

Yes, have them start looking for a new engine. Assuming it’s in a place that has freezing temps. If not.... should be ready to roll.

let's assume/hope the storage facility did their job at maintaining temperature.

what kind of boat/power (inboard, outboard, i/o)?

oh, and welcome to the crew.

The boat is a 1998 Malibu sunsetter lx inboard.

Thanks!!

Did they add fuel stabilizer? It probably would help to top up the fuel tank with fresh gas, whether they did or didn't.

If it were my boat, I'd replace the fuel filter and the impeller (part of my routine "de-winterizing" every year).

It'd be a good time to replace oil and filter.

The battery may need a top-up charge.

Check the pressure on the trailer tires.  They will likely need some air.  Maybe also some grease in the bearings.

It'd also be a good time to apply a coat of wax.

Remind them to not forget the transom plug.
