Dealers Advertising New Boats in Classifieds

Ok .. in the past I may have ranted about dealers filling the classifieds in hopes of us getting a "by owner" and "by dealer" section.  However I just realized that a dealer advertising in the classifieds is POINTLESS if that dealer is honoring territories set by Malibu.  I also hate the lazy one picture and a link to their site to drive up traffic, buyers or not.

Normally it is $5.00 an ad, but Boulder is a crew supporter so they get the benefit of unlimited ads for $25.00 a year.  In the last 3 months or a quarter of a year, Boulder has posted 41 new boats for sale. If they post this amount throughout the year it would be 164 ads. So they are getting $820 worth of ads for $25.  Take this data as you will.  Seems like an opportunity to buy the malibu crew a lot more gas to me.

I just wish they were required to put a price on their  FOR SALE post.

Look around, do you see Malibu dealers posting prices on their new boats anywhere else?

I'm talking about any for sale post, whether its for a boat or A chew toy for your dog!

Not hating on the player, but it is a bit annoying.  It's difficult to keep tabs on people listing items that are actually of interest through the dozens of new boat posts.  Love the idea of splitting out dealers and owners into sections.

Dealers are often contractually obligated to not advertise pricing on new products by the manufacturer.  If you feel strongly that all advertised products should have pricing, contact the manufacturer about changing their dealer contracts, or just call on the ad you are interested in and ask for a price.

Don’t hate the player, hate the game. They paid their money, abide by the rules, aren’t bad mouthing anyone and don’t appear to be infringing on anyone’s else’s ability to post in the classified section so what’s the problem? I will agree that they are getting a great value for their money, but anyone else on here I am sure would do the same if given the opportunity. They could bump up to a CrewChief status I suppose. My renewal check to upgrade my status is in the mail. 😁

I haven't written a check in years, nor have I sent much through the mail in years either. :innocent:

In my defense, it was BC (before coffee), I didn’t have my readers on and I clicked on a box that’s was offered. :Tease3: As I drug my knuckles across the keyboard I figured what the heck, I would just prolong the inevitable death of the failing postal system for a few more minutes and just let it be. I rarely ever use the mail for anything and only use a check for the hill billy water department where I physically drive to because I don’t trust their booger eating help anymore. 😁

You would be surprised how many still Support TMC with a check. It still works! Thanks for your continued Support!

I agree with the sentiment.  It just seems that there are so many ads that it makes it hard to find any private seller ads that actually have a price.  Most of the crew couldn't buy the new boats anyway, since they are out of territory.

I have stopped going to the classifieds because of this. I used to like browsing the for sale stuff but it’s just not convenient any more.  I know what I’m gonna get as soon as I click the classifieds link.

How about at least breaking out "boats" (new, used, dealer) and "stuff/parts/gear."  I often want to just see if anyone has some old gear they don't want,  not always looking for a boat.

You can do that already.  At the upper right, just select the category you want to view and click on Update.

Malibu dealers are also contractually obligated to only sell to people within their designated territory.  And this website may set whatever rule they wish.
