Windshield brace

Wondering if anyone has this issue.  I dont make it a habit of holding onto my windshield when passing thru the windshield opening (moving to/from bow area).  But its inevitable that i (and everyone really) do lean against one side or the other of the windshield to support themselves as they traverse.

What I'm finding is that the struts/support braces are not adequate to keep the windshield secured in place.  I dont like the angle of the brace.  It allows the glass to "roll"  when pushed on.  Ultimately, when this happens, the middle glass will not shut because the main glass is misaligned.

So my question. Has anyone come up with a different brace to support the glass?  So far, all i can come up with is something like this TAYLOR MADE WINDSHIELD BRACE  I would prefer something a little beefy looking, like a machined aluminum piece.  I also believe that mounting the brace at more of a right angle to the glass will help keep everything aligned.

Thoughts?  Suggestions?

Honestly, i havent even asked those guys.  I guess i should stop by and have a chat with them.  I just assumed its a "me" problem.  I used to fixing/figuring out issues on my own.  Its just my nature.
