Restoring Powdercoated Illusion XS Tower

I have an ‘08 247 with the illusion XS tower in dark blue.  The tower is powdercoated and is looking a little chalky due to oxidation.  I have seen tons of threads on restoring gel coat both here and other forums but can’t really find anything definitive on restoring powdercoating.  I’ve read a couple that say to wet sand, compound, polish and wax like gel coat and  a couple of others that say definitely DON’T wet sand powdercoat.  Anyone restored their tower and what did you do?  I’ve searched this forum as best I can but didn’t see any postings on this.  If I missed something please redirect.

Thanks

Take it off and take it to a good body shop or, better yet, a place that powder coats big stuff.  They are out there but you may have to be flexible to book time in their powder booth.  I have no experience with a tower but did a motorcycle frame years ago.  I think the booth was big enough for a tower.

I have a 2003 25 lsv with illusion x.  Mine cracked and I had to have it welded.  I used aircraft remover to take it all of then had it repowdercoated.  It was a pita but it looks good and has held up for 4 or 5 years now.

Great thanks. I will find a local powdercoater. Was hoping to avoid removing the tower, pulling all the wiring out and removing all the hardware but probably the right answer.
