Break in on new malibu engines

@EricLsv, I don't know anyone that has had the dealer do, or with them for the 10 hours of break in. It is up to the owner to follow the procedure. Some run it like they stole it, some run it how they intend to use it, some go by the book. Personally, I went by the book here too as they can pull ECM data and the last thing I want to do is write a $5,000 check for a new engine because I didn't spend the first ten hours getting to know the new boat, hanging out and following the break in per the manual.

Gotcha, just trying to clarify. So yes, I still say I would have the dealer do the service. It just isn't worth the headache IF something were to happen in my opinion. Is it going to be overpriced and burn when your card is run? Yeah, but it's part of new boat ownership. Like I said earlier, ask if you can provide the oil and filer. Will help reduce the burning.

I know, me too. It's the first service I paid for on the boats I've owned. Look at it as a cheap insurance policy. We all spend how much a year on insurance for stuff we all own and we hardly ever use it.
