V8 break in. New C8 and I assume Malibu block

A little read on torque reduction during break in on new Corvette engine.  Wondering if Malibu software is doing anything similar.

Or could it just be they want the new owner to get a feel for the car?  I can't remember the big wig that drove it at the Detroit Grand prix this year. He didn't make but a short distance. Got on it turned it around and into the wall.  I know when we raced we would do some little runs on a new engine. After talking with many of the people who made the parts and some of the top teams the one thing that they said is one or two startups to temp cool it down each time and race it. I know we did some things in the build that a manufacture won't do but the the clearance were smaller for our engines.

I’m guessing that it would not be the case on the Bu engines.

They don’t use that new LT2 engine yet, and the ECU/software/etc. is not GM anyway.

On an M3 the break in is with the engine running at reduced power.  After the break in fluid change they turn the beast on.  Adds about 75 HP and full torque.  That engine has twin turbos and the difference driving it home after they turned it was amazing.
