Looking to purchase a used 2018 22 VLX and it was optioned with PNP plumbing but owner said there are no bags. Do I need special bags from malibu or is the Fat Sac 750lb  W707 a good option? Or should i look at a 550lb bag?

I put the 750s in my 22VLX and rarely fill them more than 2/3 unless I have a few people up front.  These newer boats don't need the weight the older models needed.  My dealer tried to tell me to get 550s but I figured I just wouldn't fill all the way.  I got 100lbs of lead this off season to stash up front.

Honestly, I kinda wish I would have just bought the 550s because now I have to open the hatches to see where the level is so I don't over/underfill for crew size.  With my family of 5, about 75% rear bags is perfect.  With an adult up front I can fill them 100%.  Hope this helps.

If you have newbies or kids, we run 100% hard tanks with no wedge or bags.  It's amazing to see the wave with just hard tanks.  If it's a bigger adult, I will use wedge and kick up speed to keep the wave clean.

Hope this helps

@Slayer what is your setup?

I have 550's.  Generally I'll run them about 75% full depending on how much human ballast I have in the bow.  I also have a couple hundred pounds of lead in the bow of the boat.  I agree with what @wedge88 has to say.

Thanks so much for the response. This is the information I wanted to know. I had 750lb bags in the locker of our 2008 VLX and I typically only filled them 3/4.

550 seem to be the way to go! is the kit I need?

Hard to tell what the kit comes with. Since I already have the PNP plumbing option I should need just the bags, fittings and vent correct?

Should be the right bags but you can always call Wakemakers to confirm before ordering.  They are great to deal with.  I worked a deal with my dealer for my bags so this is the first boat I didn't buy from Wakemakers.

We just bought the 580s from Wakemakers for the 23 LSV and they are nice bags.

Have not used them yet but construction and raw materials feel good!

I would suggest becoming a crew supporter to get the discount code for wakemakers. I just saved almost $30 on two comp vests which paid for the membership. I also saved a nice chunk on the ballast bags. All savings!

Awesome thanks for the input guys. I am going to go with the 580lb bags. I sent wakemakers a message. Will post back with the ones I went with

I think your boat has the bigger L shaped tanks in the back, is so, those bags are the right choice.  I have the wakemakers custom 870lbs in my 2015 with the underfloor 250 lb tanks and honestly wish there was an option for more.
