Congrats @burider! You won't regret your purchase one bit. The 6.2L is a blast to drive and while you won't pass many gas stations while towing, it has plenty of power for the 7-9k trailer range. Our LSV weighs about the same as your 247 and it isn't an issue at any highway speed. I was coming from a 15' with the 6.2L and 8 speed, and the new truck beats it in every way possible. Not sure if its the weight or the frame changes, but stability is far improved as well.

Side note - I can't for the life of me figure out why you can't get max tow package on a Denali... not a huge deal and I haven't found myself needing it, but odd nonetheless.

In theory, if in 4WD the front drivetrain would be locked and potentially resist the tendency to free wheel in reverse and then start sliding.  Of course, once sliding it is friction between the tires

So it’s official. I bought the Sierra 1500, 6.2 max tow. Couldn’t be happier. Unfortunately it will be spring before I hook something up to it.

I would be more concerned with the 247 pulling YOU down the ramp with a 1500.  It is a scary feeling.  I had a 23 almost pull me off the side of a small community ramp with a yukon denali.  Very frigh
