Seadeck in 2015 23 LSV

Dealer said that the boat has a diamond pattern on the gel coat floor and this must be sanded down before the new floor can be put on there. Is this the standard procedure or could you just put it on top of the textured gel coat floor?

The guy has his hands out trying to get your money. I had the same floor on my '10 LSV when I installed my Gator Step and I used the same process on my '19 with the Seadek ! Dawn dish soap with a scrub. Fresh water rinse with a towel dry down and then an Isopropyl alcohol final clean before install. Wear socks and pants to install and if she gets a bit out of alignment you can pull it up to realign no problem for either one. Of the 2, I liked the GS far better in all respects.

They may want to scuff it up with a Scotch Bright pad to knock the wax off. But IME it wasn't necessary after a good cleaning. After a few outings it was stuck like Chuck! If you are going to install a Keel Guard/Shield on a fb hull, the only way to get good adhesion is to follow the directions to a "T" and Scotch Brite the hull with the supplied pad.

Negative. I recommend utilizing Isopropyl Alcohol prior to installation.

Furthermore, if you are looking doing GatorStep (TMC members get a 10% discount), our templates are made so that the most outer most material reaches where the smooth, finished fiberglass is. This'll yield best results for longevity purposes.

To pile on this - this is all I did when putting it in my previous boat (21 VLX).  Unscrewed the snaps, IPA'd the entire floor and laid it down.  Was actually upset with myself that I went through the trouble in trying to get quotes to have someone else do it being it was so easy.  There are some nice Youtube Vids as well.

I used Gator Step.  Didn't know we received a discount either!

It was a 30% discount for the Group buy back then. :Tease3:
