Is the knock sensor same as auto?

I took the knock sensor out to drain the block and noticed the interior end of it is either broken or corroded off, making it difficult to thread back in.  I thought oh I'll just get a new one, until I saw a DIM price of $65.  Does anyone know if you can pick one up at an autoparts store and its compatible?

I had a similar problem with the OP sensor on my '10 350 Monsoon. I went in to AutoZone and after a little searching they pulled an exact replacement off of the shelf. Never a hick up with it hundreds of hours later. A knock sensor would be even easier to find I would imagine.

There is also one listed with it that is $53, it looks identical, I wonder what the difference would be.  If there are ones that look the same but really have different performance specs.

I'd dress the threads with an NPT die or a file before I spent $50 to replace it.

Surfacing this one again as I just winterized, I used the existing sensor all season, but when I drained the block and pulled the sensor, it has even further deteriorated, (it looks like the end of an anode).  There is no dressing these threads, one side has a chunk of at least 2 layers of threads missing.

I'm nervous about "This should work".  Is the  1999 Chevrolet C1500 the best vehicle to use as a reference or is there a better one.  (2001 Monsoon 5.7)?

I pulled the sensor and crossed it's stamped number to a Duralast SU150, which is a different number than if I used the 1999 Chev C1500 as suggested.  I wonder if there would have been a difference.  It was $32 at Autozone.

AFAIK they are the same: https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=929339&cc=1303366&jsn=11  There are about a dozen that x-ref to each other.  I think the only thinkg is to ensure you get the correct threading, but in that reference era they all seem to be the same.  It would be fun to see how far back in Chev small block history you can go to use the same sensor.
