Hi there ,new to the forums been creeping them for a few months now though! I just purchased my first surf boat in August , it's a 13 247 lsv so far we have enjoyed the boat with one exception while surfing we get exhaust smell and at night steam out the back of the boat. So I looked into a surf exhaust but i have been less then impressed with the finished appearance of these add ons. I'm sure there is a reason but I'm having trouble guessing what it is hopefully you guys can explain it but why couldn't you extent the factory turndown pipes into the water more or do something on a single side that doesnt cross over and join the other side?

I don't really see any technical reason that you couldn't have dual pipes in the water, but three things come to mind.  The first is that any pipe that extends into the water will affect the wake, the second is that putting the exhaust pipe in the center affects the part of the wake that is already disturbed by the prop and rudder, and the third is that I notice that most pipes are set back from the transom.  I'm not sure if this is simply to work around a foil on the transom, but I can see that your pipe would not need to be as deep if you move it aft to meet the water that is rising to form the wake.

For sure, they are not the prettiest looking protuberances, but I assure you until something better comes along the result is worth it.

That middle pipe is in the middle for a reason - to direct the exhaust into the prop wash.  Two pipes going down, besides being additional drag over a single pipe, will not put the exhaust in the prop wash.  I'm sure it would help a little but won't be as effective as a FAE.

Because you have a dual outlet exhaust, the OEM surf pipe is a no go.  That means FAE or have a machine shop custom make you a FAE copy.

The new FAE stuff is looking a little better than the older stuff.  Mine is so hidden behind the wedge it isn't very noticeable.
