Thanks for the explanation.  Sorry to hear though.  Pretty wild scenario, but makes sense.

I had the hose pop off one of my bags about a month ago and filled the engine bay with water. I always have some water back there with people in and out and the boat being on a lift all the time, but when the bilge light came on and stayed on for a while I went back to check it out. Basically water was pumping into the bottom of the boat. Anyway; got the hose back on bag, but a few minutes later the boat just died. No codes, no lights, nothing. Stranded in the middle of the lake with 15 people on board. Drained the boat as much as I could with bilge, and then the motor fired right up. Went back to lift, and raised the boat out of the water; removed both plugs and drained completely. The boat has worked perfectly since. I called dealer to make sure it was ok to drive and he said a belt probably got a little wet and once it was dry things would be ok. Not a fun 2 hours of my life. I'm also glad I was not surfing when it happened.

All that is to say, I always have a little water in there, but keep an eye on those ballast bags. Also, the same thing happened to the other bag my next time on the lake. I always check the bags now so I caught it before much water seeped into the bottom.
