I own 2017 Malibu mxz 1st year it was used in salt water. Has the salt water kit. But I’ve been advised the motor needs to be removed do to rust everything on the front of the motor that’s been powder coated is rusted all the powder coating has come off. Why market something that can go in salt water if you have to pull the motor out every 2 years. Should these parts not be galvanized or zinc plated?

Salt is rough, but it speaks to the quality of coating that is going on the engine, unless there is some adverse condition I would certainly think this would be an exception

Pull the motor to replace everything?  What?  Are you using it on the river?  That is a bit brackish, no?  It is not like you are wakeboarding at Surfer's. Saltwater kits help, but do not prevent, SW damage.  But it takes a fair bit to wreck an engine in salt.  You can coat the engine with things like Boeshield etc.

I believe whatever coating system used should  at least last the length of the warranty period and be covered if it fails. There telling because it’s been used in salt water it want be covered.

The US military tests metal items with a "2000 Hour Salt Fog" test.  That's about four months.  Things can look very bad after that time, and nobody can prevent it without regular maintenance.  Your dealer should have taught you how to care for the engine.

I spray my engine several times a year with a cheap spray lubricant.  I miss only the belts, but I get very close to them.  I soak everything else.  My engine still looks new.
