Well . . . . Lack of replies on the Phantom so I figured someone had to buy one to try it and report back.  Just placed my order for 53" one.

Got a call after I place the order and the 53" Phantom ended up being out of stock.  Getting the Swell instead.

Was looking at upgrading my Ronix Powertail.  I've been riding behind a few other boats that have much larger wakes than mine.

Undecided between Phantom, Swell, and the Venom.

The new doomswell boards look great in person. I would check them out if I was in the market for a new board.

Thanks for the insight.  Starting to look at other boards made me realize that I want Futures Fins instead of FCS.  (a) the Futures system is way more durable, and (b) I've got a box full of various fins, and protoype fins from back when I use to surf....it would be awesome to swap out fins and see how the handling changes.

got to ride the swell over the weekend  a lot like the race 5 i have not enough difference for me to change. i am going to demo the phantom this weekend and see how that goes

An update I ended up getting a Doomswell NEO on closeout.  I was the only one on the boat yesterday who could ride it...too responsive for the rest of the folks and they swapped boards after one try.  It is extremely responsive, and I liked  that.  However, one thing i kept having issues with was it was too fast.  I found myself at the swim deck all too often and to quickly, it took me a while to get use to slowing it down.  If I stood on the tail like I do the other boards I've ridden is turned hard left (I'm regular)  i"m assuming this is due to the tail design and volume of foam at the tail.  However, ear the end of the day I got use to it and increased the boat speed by about 1.0 mph.  Really fun.  I've never been able to do airs behind a boat, but this seemed to pop and float effortlessly.  I rode with all 4 fins, I'll try removing the trailing 2 next time.

I'm sure a few more times out it I will have it dialed.  I went with the Doomswell due to the sale price and having Future Fins.

So the bad thing about this is my wife realized how much more fun another board could be.  She said she wants a board between the Ronix Powertail and Doomswell Neo.  Well now I have to buy another board.
