Hour meter and CTS not working

Recommended Posts

Boat is an 03 vlx with the monsoon 335. So the background is my damper plate let go and took some big chunks out of my bell housing a few months ago, immediately after I was getting a faint warning beep from the dash.

I found some damaged wiring but it looked like it was just the big red and orange wires going to the breaker on the motor and the alternator.

Now my coolant temp sensor isn’t working (replaced the sensor and checked wiring back to ECU) and I also just found out the hour meter isn’t ticking, it’s just stuck on the same number.

How does the ECU send the hours to the gauge? I didn’t think there was a CAN bus connection in the cannon plug. Does the gauge computer handle this? Any help appreciated.

Oh and I’m not positive that the hour meter hasn’t been broken for a bit longer I don’t normally look at it

The saga continues. I jumped the A and B terminals on the diagnostics plug and wired an LED between E and F and it just blinks sporadically with no noticeable pattern.

I’m starting to think I just need a new ECU
