XTI with stuck ski pylon

Recommended Posts

I have a 2005 Sunsetter XTI. The ski pylon is designed to go up and down but is stuck down.  Anyone out there with a short- or long-term fix?  Thanks in advance!

On LSV when it has been stuck it's been due to debris;  dust, water, crumbs.  Down below the pylon there should be 1 bolt that goes thru horizontally that keeps it in place.  Remove that bolt and place a rag under the pylon.  Use some WD-40 or other lubricant.  Should be able to pull the inner pylon out.

Take some Emory cloth or sand paper and sand down the aluminum pylon to smooth it out.  If you can, sand inside the pylon holder (it's plastic or HDPE) to smooth it out and remove any debris this should help.

When you get it removed put some tef gel inside the sleeve where it goes in and the bottom of the base where it stuck. Will most likely never be a problem again.

Tapped mine out as much as I could from beneath then attached nylon rope segment to pylon then to overhead come along to rafters of my dock. Sanded it , course then fine & it works like new.
