Wakesetter XTI Vibration

Recommended Posts

Hello all!

First time post here. I own a 2004 Malibu Wakesetter XTi 23' with the 383 hammer engine. Last night on the lake I noticed that as soon as I surpassed 2000rpm I started to get a bad vibration that could be felt in the steering wheel. The boat would only do 44mph, the top speed has typically been between 46-48 depending on load. I checked the transmission oil, it was lower than usual. I did not notice an excess of oil in the compartment. I am thinking a bearing is going, just curious if anyone else has experienced this or if anyone knows what I should check first, thank you in advance!

Transmission fluid low shouldn't really give you a vibration.  Usually low fluid in the transmission means you get slower lockup in and out of gear.  Look at prop and strut.  You'd be surprised how a tiny ding in the prop can vibrate.
