2016 Wakesetter 23 LSV Hull Separation

On the 4th of July, I noticed water coming into the boat on the port side rear cup holder area. We had a crew of about 10 with about 60 percent of the weight on that side of the boat and this was while we were underway. Not a little water either, it was raining into the cup holders. The boat has never been hit, nor has it struck anything hard. I did notice the rub rail was a bit loose as I could feel a credit card thick gap on the bottom side near the water intrusion on the outside of the boat. Would this be a warranty issue? Is this a major concern where I need to remove the entire rubrail, glue? Or do I simply attempt to go around and tighten the rub rail? Thanks in advance for the help, this isn’t an issue I have had in the past.

I am guessing you also had all your ballast full as well?  I can't see the rubrail being anywhere near the waterline with 10 people in the boat (and the weight 60/40 split) under normal conditions  (unless there were 10 really big guys.)    on my 08 (same hull) my rubrail was only in the water when I had a surf sack, a ton of people (all on one side) and we were listed (before GSA was installed.)

Get it to the dealer. This is a warranty issue.

Yes, you need to remove the rubrail and the hull needs to be re-glued and fastened.

Correct.

That's a good thing!  Get thee to a dealer!  The earlier years of the glued hulls had more problems, so this is kinda odd.

In short, no i did not have the boat sacked out. The spray from being underway was hitting that area of the hull like a fire hose. It’s that point where the boat is almost fully on plane but not all the way if i recall. Either way, I’m just gonna let the dealer handle it since this seems to be the general consensus.

Any time you have something that you feel is a warranty issue you are required to get the dealer involved and they have to do the determination, sent the info and pictures to the factory and then they have the final say as to if it is warranty or not.

 

If approved, the repair happens and you get your boat back.

 

Otherwise, fix it yourself and eat the cost.
