So I want to put ballast in our boat and the battery is in the rear compartment and that is in the way am I able to just get cable that is the same gauge as what is connected to the battery right now and run it to the front storage compartment and put the battery in there or do I have to redo the wiring completely?

longer run requires thicker cable because of losses over the length of the run.  You can get marine battery cable from genuinedealz.com.  Pretty sure the factory uses 2/0.  you'd need to measure from the starter for the positive wire and from the terminal on the block for the negative.  Then plan your route for the wire (up the gunnel, along the seat base, etc.) . My guess would be 18-20'.  If you buy lugs from genuinedealz they will also install and heat shrink them (though personally I'd prefer to do that myself to get the wire length exactly right).

This.  I did this project on mine in early 2012 (bought mid 2011).  You have some rewiring to do, such as the feed to the dash needs rerouted.  I used 00 wire for my feed/ground.
